When choosing a swimming school, class sizes matter. At Fulton Swim School, all of our learn to swim classes have an optimum ratio of 4, and a maximum of 5, students to 1 teacher. This is below the industry standard and enables our teachers to keep a close eye on each of their students, keeping them happy, safe, and honing their water skills quickly. Ultimately, you know your child best, if you think they would benefit from smaller class sizes, that might help you narrow down which swim school would suit best.
Likewise, if you know that your child will do better in a less stimulating environment, you might like to enrol in lessons in a private pool rather than a public one. Taking classes in a public pool can still be very distracting, even if the class is small, because there will always be people standing, walking or swimming nearby. At Fulton Swim School, our swim schools are purpose-built to help Kiwis grow their confidence in the water! All of the pools at our facilities are heated to 32 degrees Celsius so that all of our swimmers stay warm throughout their lessons.
Our Upper Hutt pools are treated by a state of the art water treatment system so we don't need to use any unnecessary nasty chemicals. We do however use the minimum required amount of chlorine as per government regulations.
Our classes run year-round (except for a short break over Christmas), because there’s no right or wrong time to start swimming lessons, and attending lessons year-round is the key to continual improvement.
